Chris Happel

After earning six letters in indoor and outdoor track & field plus a pair of letters in cross country at Rutgers-Newark, Chris Happel joined the Scarlet Raider staff as a graduate intern in the fall of 2014.

He is in his fifth season on the coaching staff in 2018-19.

The Kearny native, who was a double major in psychology and criminal justice, received his bachelor’s degree in the spring of 2014 and is now pursuing a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in public health.  He plans to graduate in 2017.
 
The 800-meter specialist earned second team All-NJAC honors as a senior as a member of the indoor distance medley team and Honorable Mention All-NJAC as a member of the Scarlet Raiders’ outdoor 4 x 400-meter relay unit as a junior.
 
He clocked a personal best of 1:58.66 in the 800.
 
A member of the cross country team during his junior and senior years, Happel figured in the team scoring in every meet in which he competed.  As a senior in 2013, he finished either first or second on the squad in each of its seven races.
