Ashley Cieplicki

CieplickiĀ coached her squad in 2018-19 to the program's first ever New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship after knocking off Kean University in overtime at the Golden Dome, 54-47. Cieplicki's squad overcame a late season struggle, going 1-5 in the final six games, to win out in the NJAC Postseason Tournament for the programs first-ever NJAC Championship title. En route to their first ever title, the Scarlet Raiders took down the top ranked College of New Jersey in the semifinal before using their home court advantage to knock off Kean. CieplickiĀ guided Faith Ashby to several awards during that outstanding season. Ashby was named to the WBCA Honorable Mention List, First Team All-Atlantic by d3hoops.com, First Team All-NJACĀ and NJAC Player of the Year.Ā

CieplickiĀ built on her first season as the full-time head coach to lead the Scarlet Raiders to a four win improvement and an exciting run to their first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament championship game since 2010-11 while becoming the first-ever sixth-seed to make the title game. Her squad had a rough start to the 2016-17 campaign but closed the regular season on a 4-2 stretch before defeating Stockton and KeanĀ to earn a matchup with Montclair State for the NJAC crown. CieplickiĀ guided Maria Simmons to an incredible senior season as Simmons racked up accolades as a second team All-Met, first team All-NJAC, second team d3hoops.com All-Region, and Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Star honorable mention honoree. In addition, Faith Ashby received an All-NJACĀ honorable mention in her first season with R-N.Ā

In her first season in Newark, Cieplicki led the Scarlet Raiders to eight victories, including four in the hyper-competitive NJAC. Cieplicki helped coach Simmons to All-Met and All-NJAC honors, and senior Arianna Williams eclipsed the 1,000 career point plateau in her final game as a Scarlet Raider.

ā€œWe could not be more pleased in moving Ashley into our Head Women's Basketball Coach position,ā€ commented Director of Athletics Mark Griffin. ā€œShe worked incredibly hard in her first season here in Newark, and the team improved a great deal. She has continued that hard work in bringing in a talented recruiting class for the upcoming seasons and we incredibly excited for the future of Rutgers-Newark women's basketball.ā€
