Bill Zasowski

Bill Zasowski

Bill Zasowski was named the interim head coach for Rutgers-Newark women's basketball on July 28, 2014, but he has been a driving force in Scarlet Raider basketball for the past 12 years.

As the associate head coach of the Raider men's basketball team, Zasowki has been head coach Joe Loughran's right-hand man during an unprecedented era of success.

The Kean University graduate first joined Loughran’s staff in June of 2002, helping recruit and tutor the foundation for the Scarlet Raiders’ 11 straight winning regular seasons with eight NJAC Championship Tournament showings, eight ECAC Metro Championship berths and two NCAA appearances.

In 2005-06, the young mentor guided Ocean County College to a 20-9 record and a Garden State Athletic Conference championship in his first head coaching experience. He garnered Region 19 Coach of the Year honors from his junior college peers.

Zasowski developed a love for the game at perennial power St. Anthony’s High School in Jersey City. He learned the game from legendary coach Bob Hurley, participating in the Friars’ program from 1991 to 1995.

He played at Ocean County College from 1996 through 1998, earning his associate in arts degree in the process.

While a student at Kean, Zasowski began his coaching career in 1998 as the head freshman and assistant varsity coach at Marist High School in his hometown of Bayonne. He received his bachelor of arts in physical education from Kean in 2000.
