POMONA, NJ – Junior Cierra Farquharson (Absecon, NJ/Pleasantville HS) ran a 19:44 time to finish 62nd in a field of 106 runners and lead Rutgers-Newark at the CTC Championships on the campus of Richard Stockton College.

Running a short 4-kilometer course, Farquharson, a 400- and 800-meter specialist in track for the Scarlet Raiders, finished ahead of sophomore teammate Natascha Alves (Brasilia, Brazil) for the first time this season. Alves ran a 20:19 race to finish 72nd overall.
Freshman Selamawit Ruddy (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) was the third Raider across the line in a time of 23:21, and posting her first finishing time of the season was sophomore Deja Jones (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Central) at 31:34.
Rutgers-Newark did not post a team score.
The Raiders now have two full weeks to train for the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships which will be hosted on by Richard Stockton.
