POMONA, NJ – Senior Natascha Alves and sophomore Ania Shiyanova finished consecutively to lead Rutgers-Newark in the 2009 New Jersey Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Championship hosted by Richard Stockton College.

Alves was 45th in the field of 65 runners on the 6-kilometer course while Shiyanova ran a 30:14.00 to take 46th.

Also finishing for the Scarlet Raiders, who did not post a team score, were junior Cierra Farquharson (50th, 31:24.17) and Selamawit Rutty (62nd, 34:08.70).
