DANBURY, CT – Rutgers-Newark freshman Lia Salierno earned singles and doubles victories, but Western Connecticut State spoiled the Scarlet Raiders' 2009 finale, 6-3.

The Scarlet Raiders (5-8) capped their 2009 season while the Colonials improved to 6-2. 

Salierno extended her single match to three sets, taking the super-set tie-breaker, 10-6, from Brittany Hoynack.  She rebounded from a 6-3 loss in the opening set to take a tie-breaker in the second frame, 7-2.

First-year players Mercedes Kuilan and Salierno teamed for an 8-6 decision on the second flight doubles against Maxx Zimmer and Elizabeth Boncacci. Junior Amanda Northrup and freshman Kelly Chung downed WCSU's Kelly Macey and Doborah Ferrieria, 8-2, on the No. 3 doubles court.
