2009 NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship Results

Ibeh earned All-NJAC honors with his finish and was one of seven Scarlet Raider individuals to post points in the nine-team competition. He clocked a 49.92 to trail only TCNJ's Steven Murray

The most dramatic performance of the day was by freshman javelin thrower Joshua Stinson who bettered his previous-best school record by nearly 2.5 meters to take eighth place. His best effort was 49.35 meters.

Senior steeplechaser Robert Ezewuiro lowered his school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:31.82 to take fourth place in a field of nine. Ezewuiro also ran a R-N record 16:54.49 in the 5000-meter run to finish 10th in a field of 18 runners – just one spot and 9.33 seconds faster than freshman Owen Parani who ran a personal best.

Senior Paul Bahamondes and sophomore Tauqeer Qazi finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 800-meter run, clocking times of 1:56.84 and 1:56.95 in the field of 29 runners. Sophomore DaQuan Bashir ran a 1:59.58 to give the Raiders a trio of runners under 2-minutes in the race.

Ibeh pulled a muscle on the opening leg of the 4 x 400-meter relay to dash the quartet's hopes of an outdoor NJAC title to match their indoor effort from February. Ibeh, Bashir, Bahamondes and Qazi settled for two points in a last-place finish in the seven team field.

On the women's side, junior Cierra Farquharson took fifth in the 400-meter hurdles and senior Erin Marshall was eighth in the 1500-meter run.

Farquharson clocked a personal best 1:09.16 to post four points in the field of 13 while Marshall ran a 5:03.27 to notch a point.

Sophomore sprinter Kenitra Washington barely missed the finals in the 100-meter dash, clocking a 13.77 to fall one slot short of the finals with the ninth best time of the day in the preliminaries. She also finished 11th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.45, one slot ahead of freshman Selamawit Rutty who ran a 28.60. Rutty was 11th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.58.

Farquharson, Washington, Rutty and Marshall teamed to register five points with a fourth-place finish in the 4 x 400-meter relay in a season's best clocking of 4:18.00.

Rutgers-Newark will run in the NYC Qualifying Challenge on Friday on Randall's Island in New York City as several competitors will try to register ECAC Championship qualifying times and distances.
