NEWARK, DE – Sophomore
Natascha Alves was the top Rutgers-Newark finisher as the Scarlet Raiders opened their 2009 cross country season at the Delaware Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park.
Delaware Invitational Results
Alves clocked a 25:50.95 to finish 52nd in a field of 60 runners and head a list of six Raider finishers as the team finished seventh among seven teams in the highly-competitive field of NCAA Division II and III schools.
Sophomore
Selamawit Rutty finished second among Rutgers-Newark runners with a clocking of 27:33 on the 5K course while first-year runners
Saymah Nah,
Ania Shiyanova and
Krissy Arias finished ahead of sophomore
Korvette Hinton.
The Raiders will run in the Stevens Invitational on Friday at 4 p.m. at Liberty State Park in Jersey City.
