MORRISTOWN, NJ -- Freshmen Ashley Lawrence and Lia Salierno notched singles and double wins to pace Rutgers-Newark to a 6-3 women's tennis victory over the College of St. Elizabeth.

Lawrence took the top-flight singles with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win over Sharah Orie after teaming with junior Kelly Fitzsimmons for an 8-2 win over Orie and Kimberly Christel on the No. 1 double court.

Salierno overpowered Christel on the No. 2 singles court, 6-1, 6-0, after having posted an 8-2 win on the second-flight doubles court with partner Mercedes Kuilan over Lisa Giambrone and Yanick Pepe.

Rutgers-Newark (3-7) won its second straigh match by the score of 6-3.

The Raiders play at John Jay on Monday at 4 p.m. in another non-conference match.
