PITMAN, NJ – Rutgers-Newark's Samantha Veneziano has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Softball Rookie Pitcher of the Week after picking up two wins last week.

The right-hander posted a pair of complete-game victories to up her record to 3-2. Her ERA for the week was a sparkling 1.00 in 14 innings.

On Thursday, she went eight full innings as Rutgers-Newark downed Baruch, 3-2. The rookie scattered seven hits while striking out five and walking three as the Raiders earned a doubleheader split.

On Saturday, Veneziano hurled a 2-hit shutout in an 8-0, 6-inning decision over Wells College to start a twinbill sweep by the Raiders. She struck out three and walked five in the victory which boosted Rutgers-Newark's record to 6-6.
