Keller, Zornig and Midura Named To All-EAST Squad

NEWARK, NJ – Senior middle hitter Jon Keller, junior setter Jeff Zornig and sophomore outside hitter Marcin Midura have been named to the 2010 All-EAST team release by the EIVA. Midura and junior right side Dane Mulligan were also honored as members of the 2010 EIVA All-Academic Team.

Keller was named to the 10-man first team while Zornig and Midura earned berths on the second unit. The team included players from both the EIVA Hay and Tait divisions. 

Keller ranks second the EIVA in blocking average at 1.46 per set and is fifth in hitting percentage at .428. He is the career blocking leader at Rutgers-Newark and was the 2009 NCAA Division I-II blocking average champion.

Zornig tops the 11-team conference in service aces with 78 for a .56 average per set while also ranking sixth in assists average at 11.21 per set. The Raiders are ranked fourth in the league with a .268 team hitting percentage. 

Midura, who leads Rutgers-Newark in points and kills averages, is 10th in the EIVA with a kills average of 3.82 per set. A finance major with a 3.52 grade points average, Midura joined Mulligan on the 16-man all-academic list. Mulligan has a 3.60 grade point average in anthropology at Rutgers-Newark. 

During the regular season, Midura earned national player of the week honors once and EIVA Hay Player of the Week laurels three times. Zornig was twice the EIVA weekly winner while Keller also received the recognition once. 

The Scarlet Raiders (13-12, EIVA Hay 8-0) stormed to their second straight divisional title and will enter the EIVA Championship Tournament on Saturday at George Mason.
