NEWARK, NJ – Rutgers-Newark junior setter Jeff Zornig has been named the EIVA Hay Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Zornig averaged 14.12 assists per set as the Scarlet Raiders hit over .300 for the week in a 5-set loss to Juniata and a 3-0 sweep of George Mason in The Golden Dome.

He registered a career-high 70 assists in the loss to Juniata while adding 13 digs and two aces as Rutgers-Newark hit .300 for the contest.

On Saturday, he recorded 43 assists and the Raiders hit .309 in a straight-set victory over George Mason. He added three aces and seven digs in that contest.

Rutgers-Newark players have earned five of the last six EIVA Hay Player of the Week awards with Zornig starting the run for his play during the final week of February. Sophomore outside hitter Marcin Midura claimed the honor on March 15 and 22 with senior middle hitter Jon Keller gaining notice on March 7.

The Raiders (9-11, EIVA Hay 6-0) host Harvard on Friday at 7 p.m. in The Golden Dome with a chance to secure the division's slot in the upcoming EIVA Championship Tournament.
