TRENTON, NJ – Rutgers-Newark rising senior
Ryan Williams has been selected to participate in the 2010 Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League (ABCCL) Scouts Day/All-Star Game on Monday, July 19, in the Trenton Thunder's Waterfront Park.
The 6-2 righthander will represent his summer club, the Freehold Clippers. He has given up just four earned runs and 14 hits in 17 innings pitched while striking out 19 and walking none. His 2.65 ERA is among the best in the league. The Clippers enter the final weeks of the season with a 13-9 record.
The Kearny, NJ native enters the 2011 season with 20 career starts and a 9-8 record. In 2009, he was named second team All-NJAC and Mid-Atlantic Region as well as first team All-New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association as he led the Scarlet Raiders with a 7-1 record and 4.33 ERA.
Representatives from all eight teams of the ABCCL will be on hand for the Major League Baseball scout workout beginning at 3:00 p.m. and the all-star game at 5:00 p.m. Proceeds of the event will benefit the Camp Quality New Jersey Organization - "Letting kids with cancer be kids again."
