POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Junior outside hitter Toni Moppert paced Rutgers-Newark with six kills, but Vassar College earned a 3-0 win in Kenyon Hall in the season opener for each squad. Set scores were 25-15, 25-13, 25-12.

Moppert added five digs while rookie setter Jen Mendoza tallied 14 assists.

Freshman Ula Nieznalska had a match-high nine digs while senior libero Rose Anna Beljour chipped in seven.

Sophomore middle hitters Stephanie Touzan and Rachel Witt had three kills apiece. Touzan added six digs while Witt served the only Raider ace of the evening.

Rutgers-Newark battles Penn College at 2 p.m. and host Penn State Abington at 4 o'clock on Saturday in a tri-match.
