ROCHESTER, NY – Rutgers-Newark rebounded from a sluggish start to dominate play in a 4-2 win over Medaille College which put the Scarlet Raiders into tomorrow's championship match of the Flower City Tournament.

The Raiders will take on Oneonta State, a 1-0 winner over host Rochester in the second match of day, at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday in the title contest.
Freshman forward
Michelle Gromashchuk became the second Raider to rookie to notch a hat trick in as many matches this season. She reeled off three straight tallies in the second half to break a tie and stake Rutgers-Newark to a 4-1 lead. Defender
Vanessa Rivera netted three consecutive goals in the season-opening win over Mount St. Vincent.
Junior goalkeeper
Kat Renteria stopped a pair of close-in shots by Medaille sophomore midfielder Lindsey Grana in the opening 12 minutes before senior forward
Karen Johnson gave the Raiders the early lead on a breakaway run by chipping the ball over freshman goalkeeper Denay O'Connor in the 13th minute.
Grana leveled the score just 34 seconds later collected a loose ball inside the box on the right side and punch in a goal.
The Raiders outshot the Mavericks, 10-5, in the opening half before taking control in the second half to finish with a 26-8 edge in shots.
Gromashchuk started her outburst just 2:15 into the second period, putting back a rebounded shot off of O'Connor by junior defender
Jessica Gavilanes. The freshman pushed a shot past a charging O'Connor to complete a 40-yard breakaway run in the 51st minute. Gromashchuk fired in a shot from eight yards out on a centering pass from the right wing by Johnson in the 65th minute.
Renteria made three saves in 74 minutes before turning over the goal to junior

Medaille senior midfielder Katie Bush put in a header off of a corner kick by senior Chelsea Buzyniski with nine minutes left to close out the scoring.
