GLASSBORO, N.J. (November 11, 2016) – The Rutgers University-Newark women's cross country team placed 41st Saturday at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Championships.

Freshman
Kamila Ivashka once again led the Scarlet Raiders, turning in a time of 26:01.7 and placing 231st overall. Ivashka came out of the gate strong for R-N and finished with the best time of her career and fourth-best time in the history of Rutgers-Newark cross country.

Veteran
Giovanna Noguera was next, clocking a 27:05.6 and crossing the tape in 255th. Noguera trimmed more than 30 seconds off her time from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships several weeks back, and the finish also serves as a new career-best.

Freshman
Success Uhunmwangho was the third Scarlet Raider to cross the finish line, turning in a career-best time of 27:26.8 which was more than 90 seconds better than her previous mark. Uhunmwangho took 265th.

Sophomore
Jackie Peeke-Brown carded a 28:39.1 in placing 282nd in the 6K race hosted by Rowan University, and freshman
Crystal Gosney turned in a 29:12.7 which was good for 288th and a new season-best for her.

Freshmen
Esder Chong and
Comfort Akinbo also competed for Newark, taking 291st and 298th, respectively. Chong tallied a 29:31.9 and Akinbo clocked a 31.22.7 which were both top times for the Rutgers-Newark rookies.

SUNY Geneseo won the Atlantic Regional team title with a score of 90, SUNY Oneonta was second (112) and RPI was third (121). Senior Amy Regan of Stevens Institute of Technology won the individual title with a time of 20:05.1.

Rutgers-Newark tallied a team score of 1,265 as a total of 303 runners from 43 colleges and universities competed at the event.
