NEWARK, N.J. (November 15, 2016) – The 10th-ranked Rutgers University-Newark men's soccer team is headed to the 'Sweet 16' of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship this weekend for the first time in program history.
The Scarlet Raiders will be traveling up to Amherst College (Mass.) to play No. 22 SUNY Oneonta in the third round of the national tournament, kicking off at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon on Hitchcock Field.
Students looking to travel to the game can do so FREE of charge and all that is needed is an official Rutgers ID and $3 for admission to the game. The bus will be leaving at 9:30 a.m. from The Golden Dome Athletic Center and will head back to campus following the game.
The Rutgers-Newark Department of Athletics is asking those interested to please RSVP to eryka.baez@rutgers.edu by 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 17.
The Scarlet Raiders reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament with a pair of shutout victories last weekend in Newark, topping New England College in the first round and Elizabethtown College in the second.
Rutgers-Newark will bring a record of 20-3-0 into its match Saturday. The team's 20 wins are a program-record as are its 13 shutouts.
