Track & Field Programs Release Indoor Slate

NEWARK, N.J. (November 28, 2016)
– The Rutgers University-Newark track & field program's indoor track & field schedule has been set, and it begins on December 2 at the Metro Holiday Season Opener in Staten Island.
 
The Scarlet Raiders will compete in 10 events including the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, and they hope to compete in 11 if team members are able to qualify for the 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in Illinois.
 
After Friday's season-opener at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Complex, R-N will head back to practice for the remainder of 2016, opening the 2017 portion of the schedule at the Ramapo No Name Meet at the New York Armory on January 13.
 
The NYC Gotham Cup comes next on January 20 and the Villanova Open follows the next week with both events taking place at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island.
 
Rutgers-Newark will compete outside the state of New York for the first time in East Stroudsburg, Pa. on February 5 as the Raiders will battle it out at the DeShriver Invitational, and the team heads back to N.Y. for the FastTrack National Invite in Staten Island on February 10.
 
The Molloy College Invite in Melville, N.Y. will serve as the team's final tune-up before the 2017 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships at Ocean Breeze on February 20, and the team will look to get a few more student-athletes qualified for the ECAC's on Saturday, February 25 at the FastTrack Last Chance Meet.
 
The ECAC Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships will take place March 3 and 4 in Ithaca, N.Y. and the national meet is slated for March 10 and 11.

The 2016-17 Rutgers-Newark men's and women's indoor track & field rosters will be posted Wednesday, November 30.
