NJAC All-Conference Teams

NJAC Semifinal Preview | Rutgers-Newark Highlights

PITMAN, N.J. (February 24, 2016)
- Senior forward Jordan McDaniel was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Player of the Year and senior guard John Snow was tabbed second-team All-NJAC, it was announced Wednesday morning by the league office.

The honors come on the morning of an NJAC semifinal showdown at second-seeded Stockton University with a berth in Saturday's conference title game on the line.

McDaniel - the first-ever 'Pony Wilson' NJAC Player of the Year in Rutgers-Newark men's basketball history - earns his second-straight first-team all-conference honor after putting together a marvelous senior season. He is currently averaging 21.2 points per game on 53.6 percent shooting and pulling down 7.0 rebounds.

He checks in No. 2 in the conference in scoring, No. 4 in field-goal percentage and No. 5 in rebounding. His 28 rejections have him fourth in the NJAC, and his 39.8 percent conversion rate from three-point range is in eighth in the conference.

McDaniel scored in double figures in all but one game this season, eclipsing 20 points 15 times and going over 30 four times. He dropped 31 in a conference game against Kean University on December 9 and scored 32 in back-to-back wins over William Paterson University and Ramapo College on January 13 and 16. In the January 16 win over the Roadrunners, McDaniel moved over 1,000 career points, and he then scored a remarkable 44 points on 15-of-23 shooting in a double overtime win at Ramapo to close the regular season. That performance - coupled with an 18-point, six-rebound game in the first round of the NJAC Tournament netted him Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week and D3Hoops.com National Team of the Week honors. The Colonia, N.J. native has four double-doubles this season and 14 games with seven or more rebounds and double-digit points.

Snow was first-team All-NJAC after the 2013-14 season, and after sitting out last year due to injury, has been excellent in his final collegiate campaign. Another player that surpassed 1,000 career points, Snow is averaging 18.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game, ranking fifth in the NJAC in scoring and 11th in rebounding. Snow has scored in double figures 21 times in 25 games played, posting 20 or more nine times and notching four double-doubles.

The Newark native scored 30 points in three separate NJAC road wins for the Scarlet Raiders this season - December 5 at The College of New Jersey, January 27 at Montclair State University and February 17 at Ramapo College. He also scored a career-high 42 points in a conference win at Rowan University on January 16 to earn NJAC Player of the Week honors, scoring the most points in a conference game at the time since January of 2007.

McDaniel, Snow and the Scarlet Raiders tip-off at 7 p.m. Wednesday at The Sports Center in Galloway, N.J. Fans can follow the R-N vs. Stockton NJAC semifinal via live stats and live video via www.rutgersnewarkathletics.com.
