Rosoline Named NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week

PITMAN, N.J. (March 7, 2016) - Freshman Anthony Rosoline of the Rutgers University-Newark baseball team was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Rookie Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Monday morning by the league office.

Rosoline and the Scarlet Raiders went 1-0 last week, defeating Penn State University-Abington 11-1 at Diamond Nation in Flemington, N.J.

The Paramus Catholic product started for the second time in his career on Tuesday and picked up his second career win, tossing six strong frames and allowing just one run. Rosoline scattered five hits and struck out three, giving way to sophomore reliever Anthony Perconte in the seventh who locked down the save with three scoreless innings.

Rosoline (2-0) has a 2.08 earned-run average in 13 innings, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits. He has six total strikeouts and boasts a WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched) of .92, inducing two double plays in the victory over Abington.

Rutgers-Newark returns to action Monday afternoon at Stevens Institute of Technology in a non-conference showdown. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
