Women’s Volleyball Picked Eighth in NJAC Preseason Poll

PITMAN, N.J. (August 29, 2016)
– The Rutgers University-Newark women's volleyball team was picked to finish eighth in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, it was announced Monday morning.

Eight-time defending NJAC Champion Stockton University was picked to finish first in the poll, and the Ospreys were followed by Montclair State University, Ramapo College, Kean University, Rowan University, Rutgers University-Camden and William Paterson University. New Jersey City University is the final team on the list, checking in at No. 9.
 
Rutgers-Newark finished the 2015 season with a record of 12-15 and hopes to get off to a similar start in 2016 as the Scarlet Raiders opened last year with a mark of 6-0.
 
The top six regular season finishers will advance to the 2016 NJAC Championship Tournament which will begin with first round action on Tuesday, November 1. The NJAC Tournament semifinals will be conducted on Thursday, November 3, and the league championship match will be played at the site of the highest remaining seed on Saturday, November 5. The winner of the NJAC Tournament receives the conference's automatic qualification to the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship.
 
The Scarlet Raiders will get the 2016 season underway with a non-conference home match on September 1 against the College of Saint Elizabeth, and after three-straight road contests, R-N will welcome Rowan University to The Golden Dome on September 13 for the first NJAC battle of the year.
 
Highlighting the schedule will be a trip to Washington, D.C. for the Gallaudet Tournament on September 23 and 24, and a home tri-match against Baruch College and Maritime on the first day of October.
 
Additionally, the team will take a trip to Glenside, Pa. for the Arcadia Tournament on October 14 and 15.
