NJAC Release
PITMAN, N.J. (February 13, 2018) – The Rutgers University-Newark baseball team was picked to finish seventh in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) in a poll of the league's 10 head coaches released Tuesday morning.

Rutgers-Newark is coming off a 2017 season in which it won an exceptional 24 games and made it back to the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament for the first time since 2011.

The Scarlet Raiders finished the year 24-15-1 overall, earning nine wins inside the hyper-competitive NJAC and upsetting nationally-ranked No. 18 The College of New Jersey in the second round of the conference tourney.

TCNJ tops the 2018 poll, getting 9-of-10 first-place votes. The Lions were followed by Rowan University, Ramapo College, Kean University, William Paterson University and Montclair State University. Rounding out the ranks behind the Scarlet Raiders were Rutgers University-Camden, Stockton University and New Jersey City University.

Rutgers-Newark opens its season with two games this weekend in Salem, Virginia, squaring off against 10th-ranked Roanoke College and the College of Mount Saint Vincent. The team will head North Carolina the next weekend for the Fayetteville Tournament, and then the Scarlet Raiders will head west for eight games in California during Spring Break.

Rutgers-Newark opens its home schedule on March 22, and the first conference games of the season will be against current current No. 22 and preseason favorite TCNJ on March 31 in Newark.
Fans can expect the 2018 Scarlet Raider roster to be posted Wednesday morning, and a full season preview Wednesday night.Â
