    Mercurio is one of the top Scarlet Raider baseball players in program history, competing in scarlet and black from 2003-2007. He played in 144 career games, amassing 493 at-bats, 152 hits and 242 total bases. He had 55 extra-base knocks and a career batting average of .308 to go along with a .491 slugging percentage. Mercurio also drove in 104 runs, swiped 26 bases and worked 83 walks.
 
His final season in Newark was remarkable as he hit .340 with 20 extra-base hits and a slugging percentage of .560. He drove in 34 runs and had 48 total hits, also scoring 38 times in a year in which he was named first-team All-NJAC.
 
A phenomenal defender, Mercurio picked up an All-ECAC nod in 2007, also earning first-team All-NJAC honors as well. The left-handed slugger also grabbed All-NJCBA accolades and was All-Mid-Atlantic Region as selected by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
