Eric Honsberger was one of the strongest men’s volleyball players in the history of the program when the Scarlet Raiders were an NCAA Division I team. Standing 6-6 he was an imposing outside hitter that other teams had to game plan for, and was a two-time all-conference selection going up against the top men’s volleyball players in the nation year in and year out – battled against teams like Penn State, Ohio State, George Mason, Princeton and Pepperdine.
Honsberger was a second-team All-EIVA as a junior, putting down 3.36 kills per set and leading the squad to 10 triumphs. As a senior, Honsberger put together an even better year, tallying 5.50 kills per set on the back of a lofty .278 hitting percentage. He racked up 528 kills on his way to his second-straight second-team all-conference award, leaving the Brick City on a high note.
