Brown ran a 7.70-second time, just missing his school-record mark of 7.65 set in yesterday's preliminaries, but he notched the first point in Rutgers-Newark track & field history at the national championships.
The sophomore, who also won the New Jersey Athletic Conference 55-meter hurdles race, lowered his own school mark in the event five times through yesterday's preliminary round.
NJAC senior foes Will Brown of Montclair State and Kyle Gilroy of The College of New Jersey finished first and third, respectively, in the finals.
The 2010 NJAC Indoor 200-meter dash champion, Brown is the first male or female in the four-year history of Rutgers-Newark's track & field program to achieve NCAA D-III All-America status under head coach
Juan Edney.
