All first-year student-athletes at Rutgers-Newark are required to complete a two-part physical examination at the University.
Part “A” of the physical is completed by our Team Physician, Dr. Robin Gehrmann, in the Rutgers-Newark Athletic Training Room in The Golden Dome on a date to be assigned later. Once a date and time have been set, each incoming student-athlete will be notified by his/her head coach for completion of the Pre-Participation Physical Examination. If one misses or can not attend his/her physical date, please contact the Athletic Training Room at (973) 353-5116 immediately. No other physicals completed by doctors outside of the university will be accepted.
Part “B” of the physical is performed by Dr. Sandra Samuels and her staff at the Rutgers-Newark Health Center in Blumenthal Hall. Please contact the Health Center Office at (973) 353-5231 to schedule a Student-Athlete Physical Examination. Please note that during this examination blood work will be completed.
Finally, attached is a list of documents that must be printed out and filled out completely by each incoming student-athlete and his/her family BEFORE the date of the Pre-Participation Physical Examination in the Athletic Training Room. Please make sure to read through each form carefully and fill out each form to the best of your knowledge. Return these completed forms on the date of your physical examination in the Athletic Training Room.
Please note that without completion of both parts of the physical and without submitting all completed forms listed below you will not be able to participate.
