PROFILE OF THE WEEK (Jan. 29, 2010)

FRESHMAN (2009-10): R-N Female Rookie Athletic of the Year and NJAC Indoor Shot Put Champion... 2010 NJAC first R-N T&F athlete to win an individual event at the NJAC Indoor Championships and claim first-team All-NJAC honors... 2010 NJAC Co-Outstanding Field Athlete of the Year... 2009-10 Coaches Award Winner for Indoor Track & Field... second-team All-NJAC after taking second in the Outdoor Championships... has top six shot put efforts in R-N indoor record book and top three outdoor tosses... qualified for both the ECAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships as a rookie... school-record throw of 12.35 meters at the ECAC Indoor Championships (3/5/2010) to finish sixth in a field of 17... school-record 11.65 meter toss at the Danny Curran Invitational (3/27/2010) outdoors to take second in a field of 39... also threw the discus with a best outdoor mark of 32.60 meters at the Ramapo Invitational (4/3/2010).

HIGH SCHOOL: Two-sport athlete at West Orange HS in track & field and volleyball… Northern Hills Conference champion in the shot put, heaving a conference record of 39 feet as a senior… two-year letterwinner in track & field who also took Northern Hills shot put title for the Mountaineers… three-year letterwinner in volleyball, earning Coaches Award and Blue Heart Award in her junior and senior seasons… Honor Roll student. 

PERSONAL: Academic sophomore in her second year of intercollegiate athletics… transfer from Bloomfield College in fall 2009… daughter of Donna Alston... born in Newark.
