GLASSBORO, NJ – Freshman goalkeeper Jonathan Frances (Chandler, AZ/Hamilton HS) kept things close with nine saves, but Rowan got the decisive bounce in the end in a heart-breaking, 1-0, New Jersey Athletic Conference men's soccer loss to Rowan.

Senior forward Tom Gannon headed in the lone goal on a loose ball in the box off a feed from freshman midfielder Andrew Ocbo with 11:32 left in regulation. Conversely, it was Gannon's second lone goal in an NJAC match for the Profs (9-5-1, NJAC 3-3-1). On Wednesday, his goal toppled Ramapo, 1-0.
Rutgers-Newark (8-7-1, NJAC 0-6-0) was out shot, 18-9, and took five fewer corners than Rowan (8-3).
Senior goalkeeper Kevin Nuss made six saves to register his third shutout of the season.
The hard-luck Raiders fell to The College of New Jersey, 3-2, before consecutive 1-0 losses to Rutgers-Camden, New Jersey City and Rowan.
Rutgers-Newark hosts John Jay in a non-conference match on Monday at 7 p.m. on Alumni Field before reentering NJAC play on Wednesday against Ramapo. The Roadrunners and Raiders will try to replay a match which was abandoned in the second half on September 22 when the lights went out on Alumni Field.
