POMONA, NJ – Rutgers-Newark finished its season with a 2-0 loss at Richard Stockton, falling just one game shy of the program's first winning record in 11 seasons.

NCAA Box Score

The Scarlet Raiders (9-10-1, NJAC 0-9-0) posted the most victories since 1996's 12-5-1 squad despite going winless in the NJAC. The Raiders suffered four one-goal losses in the middle of the league season to rob the team of a winning record and a possible post-season tournament berth.

The Ospreys (11-7-2, NJAC 3-5-1) failed to make the NJAC tournament field, but they are among a group of schools hoping for an ECAC Metro Championship berth.

Freshman goalkeeper Jonathan Frances (Chandler, AZ/Hamilton HS) made eight saves and got help with three team saves by the Raider defense, but Stockton held a sizeable 23-11 advantage in shots. Osprey goalkeeper Tim McKenna (Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) made six saves to register his fifth shutout of the season.

Stockton got goals from Sean McCallum (Vineland, NJ/Vineland) and Rafael Duarte (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) just 4:13 apart in the second half to make the difference.

First-year head coach Kevin East loses just one player to graduation – Joe Tutalo (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) – leaving his with a solid base to pursue a winning season and a post-season berth in 2008.
