CAMDEN, NJ – Rutgers-Newark freshman goalkeeper Jonathan Frances (Chandler, AZ/Hamilton HS) made five saves, but Rutgers-Camden rode a late first-half goal to a 1-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference men's soccer victory.

The Scarlet Raiders (7-5-1, NJAC 0-4-0) out shot the Scarlet Raptors (8-5-1, NJAC 3-1-1), 5-3 in the second half, but goalkeeper Brent Grunow posted a shutout with two saves in each half.
Frances made four saves in the opening period, allowing only on a putback goal by Rodney Guishard after Chris Amato rifled a shot off the crossbar in the 36th minute.
It marked the first time that Rutgers-Newark has been shut out this season.
The Raptors held an 11-8 edge in shots for the match and served five corner kicks to the Raiders' two.
Senior Joe Tutalo (West Orange, NJ/West Orange), juniors Joe Caamano (Linden, NJ/Linden) and Aderson Cenoble (West Orange, NJ/West Orange), and freshman Raphael Ventura (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) put shots on goal for the Raiders.
The Raiders host Staten Island on Alumni Field Monday night at 7 o'clock in a non-conference match.
