NEWARK, NJ – Freshman midfielder Robert Campos (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) had his first career hat trick and eight other Rutgers-Newark players scored goals in a 12-0 non-conference men's soccer win over Staten Island under the lights on Alumi Field.

Campos had the first two goals of the match in the opening 25 minutes as the Scarlet Raiders (8-5-1) hammered out a 3-0 edge at halftime before exploding past the Dolphins (3-10-1) in the final 45 minutes.

Freshman goalkeeper Matt Zielyk (West Orange, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) posted his fifth win without a loss, stopping five shots before giving way to classmate Soloman Schwartz (Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield). Schwartz preserved the shutout by making two saves in the final 20 minutes.

Freshman reserve midfielder Raphael Ventura (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) exploded for two goals and two assists while rookie forward Christien Vlahinich (Montvale, NJ/St. Joseph's Regional) added a goal and two assists to the Raider onslaught.

Rutgers-Newark out shot CSI, 30-11, and served 10 corner kicks to the Dolphins' three.

The Raiders host New Jersey City on Wednesday at 7 o'clock in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match on Alumni Field before visiting Rowan on Saturday for another league contest.
