Scarlet Raiders Fall In NJAC Opener

GLASSBORO, NJ – Outside hitter Rose Anna Beljour (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack HS) led Rutgers-Newark with four kills and a dozen digs while posting three service aces, but Rowan rolled to a 3-0 women's volleyball win in Esby Gym.

The Scarlet Raiders (0-5, NJAC 0-1) also got a team season-high four aces and eight digs from junior setter Nazly Hasanizadeh (Katy, TX/Alief Hastings) in the 30-17, 30-12, 30-19 loss.

Rowan (3-7, NJAC 1-1) were led in a balanced attack by outside hitters Alexis Louie and Slobahn Young with nine and eight kills, respectively.

Freshman outside hitter Loretta Fitzgibbons (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ/Hasbrouck Heights) tallied 10 digs and two assisted blocks while freshman middle blocker Crystal Navarro (Passaic, NJ/Passaic) added three kills.

The Raiders open their home slate on Thursday night, hosting Kean in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match at 7 o'clock.
