HILLSIDE, NJ – Rutgers-Newark women's tennis team won all six singles matches to down host Kean University, 7-2, in New Jersey Athletic Conference action opener for both teams on the East Campus Courts.

Junior Nicole Rubinetti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange HS) and sophomore Monica Iturralde (Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearley) were double winners as they teamed for the Scarlet Raiders' only doubles victory on the No. 1 court before each posted straight-set singles win. Rubinetti powered her way to a 6-0, 6-0, blanking on the top-flight singles court while Iturralde won 6-3, 6-2, on the No. 5 court.

Senior Fergie-Ross Montero (Jersey City, NJ/Marist), sophomores Fatima Gramatica (Union, NJ/Union) and Winnie Changco (Bayonne, NJ/Marist) and freshman Kelly Fitzsimmons (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) also registered singles victories for Rutgers-Newark, giving the Raiders back-to-back singles sweeps in dual matches.

The squad now faces perennial NJAC champion The College of New Jersey on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in Ewing. The Lions have never lost a conference match.
