NCAA Box Score & Play-by-Play
Caseres' goal gives her 40 points on the season, eclipsing Erin Finn's 2000 mark of 38, as the Scarlet Raiders' all-time single season points standard. The rookie currently leads Rutgers-Newark in goals with 17 and ranks second in assists with six.
Kean opened up scoring early in the second half when sophomore forward Samantha Ciccione netted her first marker of the season at 47:39.
Caseres knotted the game at one apiece, blasting a penalty kick past Cougars' goalkeeper Leandra Russo at 69:16.
The Raiders were forced to play short-handed for the final 38:13 of the contest when senior midfielder Whitney Huber (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) was red carded on what seemed a routine foul. Rutgers-Newark started the match with just 11 healthy players.
Kean took advantage of the mismatch, regaining the lead for good on junior Nicolette Maggio's goal in the 82nd minute.
Freshman goalkeeper Kat Renteria (North Bergen, NJ/Cliffside Park) made a career-high eight saves against an unrelenting Cougars' attack that outshot the Rutgers-Newark 21-5. Kean's 21 shots were the most allowed by the Scarlet Raiders this season.
Rutgers-Newark (8-6-2, NJAC 2-4-1) hosts St. Elizabeth on Wednesday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m. on Alumni Field.
