NEWARK, NJ – Despite senior Nicole Rubinetti's (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) best efforts in her return to top flight singles competition, Rutgers-Newark fell to 1-3 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play this season following a 9-0 loss to The College of New Jersey.

The Lions, who have never lost to a conference opponent, a streak which spans 123 matches, yielded just nine games on the day to the Scarlet Raiders, as head coach Scott Dicheck captured his 100th career victory.

Rubinetti dropped just her second match of the season, falling to the Lions' Stefanie Haar, 6-0, 6-3, in top flight singles, while junior Monica Iturralde (Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearly) lost her first, second flight singles match of the year—and third overall—in a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Felice Trinh. The duo would also lose its third, top flight doubles match of the season, 8-2, moving their mark to 9-3 on the year.

Rubinetti now holds an 8-2 record in first and second flight singles, while Iturralde is 9-3 in No. 2 and No. 3 singles competition.

Rutgers-Newark will look to bounce back against Baruch on Saturday, October 4th at 2:00 p.m. on the Golden Dome Courts.
