NEWARK, NJ  – Freshman Jillian Dierenfield (Ankeny, IA/Ankeny) continued to impress, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0, victory over sophomore Svetlana Khvatikova in fifth flight singles, while helping Rutgers-Newark to an 8-1 win over Brooklyn College.

Sophomore standout Anne Olaya (Jersey City, NJ/McNair Academic) captured her fourth win of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of junior Ruth Perez in first flight singles.

Senior Nicole Rubinetti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) defeated Joy Rotstein 6-0, 6-2 in second flight singles, while junior Monica Iturralde (Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearly) continued to shine with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in third flight singles.

Rubinetti and Iturralde swept Ruth and Rotstein, 8-0 in first flight doubles, while Olaya and sophomore Kelly Fitzsimmons (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) earned a commanding 8-0 win over sophomore Ovsiy Olexandra and freshman Erica Gil in No. 2 doubles.

Dierenfield and sophomore Amanda Northrup (Brick, NJ/St. Rose) rounded out doubles play, with an 8-0 victory in third flight doubles.

The Scarlet Raiders return to the court Wednesday, September 17 when they play host to John Jay at 4:00 pm.
