MONTCLAIR, NJ – Rutgers-Newark never got out of the blocks in a New Jersey Athletic Conference women's volleyball loss to Montclair State, falling 25-5, 25-7, 25-4, in the MSU Recreation Center.

Only juniors Rose Anna Beljour (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack HS) and Val Dauti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange), sophomore Na-Keta Michael (Newark, NJ/West Side) and freshman Toni Moppert (Cliffside Lake, NJ/Pascack Hills) managed a kill as the Scarlet Raiders (1-15, NJAC 1-3) posted a season-low four kills in the contest.
The Red Hawks (11-5, NJAC 3-1) hit a sizzling .531 (30 kills, four errors, 49 attacks) while amassing 13 service aces. Rutgers-Newark had 24 attack errors and did not record an ace.
Junior setter Christina Francisco (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) had four digs and Beljour, three, for the Raiders.
Karen Martin paced MSU, hitting .750 with nine kills in a dozen swings with no errors while adding four digs and an ace.
Rutgers-Newark now has a week to prepare for another NJAC match at Kean on October 7 at 7 p.m.
