NEWARK, N.J. | The Scarlet Raiders women's tennis program squared off against Kean University for the second time this season on senior day. Before the match, both Nell Karpinski and Bryanna Thaxton were honored with frames from their time playing as a Scarlet Raider. Rutgers University-Newark (2-8) had their senior day spoiled by Kean University (11-6), 7-2.

The senior duo performed well on court one in doubles but they fell 8-6 to set the Scarlet Raiders back 1-0. Emely Conza and Sita Suwanetr dropped their doubles game 8-2 which gave Kean University a 3-0 lead in the match.

When play switched to singles, Karpinski downed her opponent, Anna Chan, 6-4 in both sets to give her team a point. Thaxton followed that up with a three-set thriller, 2-6, 6-3, 10-6, to hand the Scarlet Raiders their second win of the match.

From there the Scarlet Raiders were unable to secure another win as they would be swept on courts three through six.

Today's match was the final match of the 2019 season for the Scarlet Raiders and they will now look ahead to their 2020 campaign next season.
