Frederick Douglass Field Construction is Underway

NEWARK, N.J. | The old artificial turf on Frederick Douglass Field has been torn up and the leveling of the field has begun.

Home to the Scarlet Raiders' men's and women's soccer teams as well as the softball program will anxiously await the completion of their new field that will be covered in state-of-the-art field turf. Both of the soccer programs are used to playing on a turf field, however, for the softball team, this will be the first time that their home field will be completed turfed.

After another wet Spring, the softball team saw many of their games postponed or had what would be home games moved to neutral sites. With the installation of the field turf, the Scarlet Raiders will be able to keep their home games as well be home to one of only a few completely turfed softball fields in the area.

The project is on schedule and is slated to be completed in early August, just in time for the start of the preseason for both men's and women's soccer teams.
