NEWARK, N.J. | The Scarlet Raiders women's tennis team played in their third match in as many days this afternoon and hosted Baruch College for non-conference action. Rutgers University-Newark (2-5) was unable to keep up with the Bearcats of Baruch College (6-1) as they would go on to lose, 9-0.
Once again the duo of
Bryanna Thaxton and
Sugandhi Yerram Reddy prolonged the match on court one in doubles, however, the ultimately fell 8-3.
Sophia Raza and
Emely Conza dropped in second doubles 8-1 while
Natalie Hernandez and
Sita Suwanetr also fell by the same scoreline.
In singles, the strong showing by the Bearcats continued as they were able to sweep courts one through three. Hernandez, in the five slot, put up the most points, falling 6-1, 6-2, but was the last match to finish.Â
Suwanetr finished just before Hernandez on court five but also fell, 6-1, 6-0.Â
Up next, the Scarlet Raiders will travel to Camden, NJ to take on Rutgers University-Camden at 3:30 pm for a New Jersey Athletic Conference match.Â
