#RUNWSOC Falls In ECAC Semifinal to Stockton

MADISON, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark women's soccer team fell in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) semifinal, 4-1, held at FDU-Florham.

The Scarlet Raiders (10-6-3) took six shots and put five on target in the loss. Tamia Howell tucked home her team-leading 8th goal of the season late in the game to prevent the Scarlet Raiders from being shut out. Katie McLaughlin made eight saves in 90 minutes of action.

Stockton (14-6-3) capitalized on three first-half goals to advance to the ECAC Championship game. The scorebook was opened just 15 minutes into the game when the Ospreys were gifted their first tally on an own goal by the Scarlet Raiders.

From there, Stockton added another pair of goals in short order to send them into the half with a comfortable 3-0 lead. Shortly into the second half, the Ospreys struck again to inflate their total to four goals.

After being shutout in the first half, the Scarlet Raiders' offense came alive as they ripped off six shots with one finding the back of the net. Howell received a pass from Mariana Valencia and put it in the back of the net, however, they were unable to build off of that momentum as Stockton's defense would return to form and limit Rutgers-Newark's chances.
