Rutgers-Newark Lands 59 Student-Athletes on NJAC All-Academic Team

PITMAN, NJ | Rutgers-Newark had 59 representatives on the New Jersey Athletic Conference All-Academic Team for the 2023-24 season.

To be eligible, student-athletes must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors in a conference-sponsored sport and have a minimum 3.20 grade point average. 

Madison Umlauf and Paul Recchia were named First Team All-Academic with Izzy Deltoro and Eric Recchia named Second Team All-Academic. 

Eric and Paul Recchia were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District while Eric was also named ABCA All-Region and First Team All-NJAC. Eric Recchia paced the team with a .358 batting average, 9 HRs, and 35 RBIs. Paul Recchia finished with a .269 batting average, 9 doubles, and 18 RBIs. 

Izzy Deltoro appeared in one game for the Scarlet Raiders women's soccer team. Madison Umlauf appeared in 22 games with 17 starts as the ace for the Rutgers-Newark softball squad.
