EWING TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Rutgers-Newark women's basketball team faced a tough loss on the road against The College of New Jersey, falling 86-45. TCNJ took control early, leading 22-8 at the end of the first quarter, and extended their advantage to 48-25 by halftime.
Despite a hard-fought effort, the Raiders struggled to keep up with TCNJ's balanced offensive attack.
Quanajah Felder led the Raiders (3-19, 0-15 NJAC) with 13 points, playing all 39 minutes of the game.
Arlenny Medina provided a spark off the bench, contributing eight points in the contest.
TCNJ (17-5, 13-2 NJAC) showcased a well-rounded performance, with four players finishing in double digits for scoring. Katie Fricker led the way for TCNJ with 16 points, shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and adding seven rebounds to her stat line.
The game saw the Raiders fight hard but ultimately unable to close the gap as TCNJ's depth and precision proved too much. Rutgers-Newark will look to regroup and bounce back in their next match up as they return to the court on Wednesday, Feb. 12 to host Ramapo College at 6 p.m.
