Profile of the Week (April 9, 2008)
NOTES: Set R-N standards for the mile indoors and the 1500-meters outdoors while running as a key member of several Raider relay units... earned first-team NJAC Indoor All-Conference honors as a member of the record-setting 4 x 800-meter relay team… member of R-N record setting distance medley unit… did not compete in cross country as a true freshman.
SOPHOMORE (2009): Top R-N finisher in six of seven races… ran the second fastest 8K in school history, placing 19th among 151 runners in the CTC Championship (10/17) with a clocking of 27:23.80 which was just 7.06 seconds off of Paul Bahamondes’ school standard… was 13th at the NJAC Championship (10/31) with a time of 27:43.74… finished seventh among 93 competitors at the Belmont Classic (10/3) in a time of 28:49.58… clocked a 27:51.66 time to finish 14th in a field of 65 at the Stevens Invitational (9/25).
FRESHMAN (2008): In his first season of cross country competition, clocked the third best times on the squad at both the 6-K and 8-K distances... turned in a 27:44.36 8-K effort at the NJAC Championships (11/1)... also ran a 28:11.12 at the Cabrini Invitational (10/11)... had a personal best 6-K of 20:48.59 at the Osprey Open (9/27).
HIGH SCHOOL: All-state, All-Hudson County and All-Jersey City Public School League performer in cross country and track while helping McNair Academic HS to three consecutive league and county titles… gained all-state honors in the 1600 in track and in cross country… two-time JCPS and Jersey City cross country champion… as a senior, was Hudson County and sectional cross country champion while helping the Cougars to sectional title under coach Matt Hogan… National Honor Roll student.
PERSONAL: Transferred to Rutgers-Newark campus from North Brunswick in the spring of 2008…ran in USATF competition in 2007… born in Lahore, Pakistan… younger of two sons to Munawer and Hina Qazi.
