Former NCAA Division I catcher at Towson University, Christina Landis joined the Scarlet Raider staff in September of 2011 as a graduate intern. The Germantown, MD, native is pursuing a master’s degree in Rutgers-Newark’s School of Public Administration.
The four-year letterwinner at Towson University comes to the Raider staff after coaching Jewish Day School in Rockville, Maryland, to its first undefeated season and a league championship. She was named Coach of the Year in her first season of softball head coaching. She also served as the head basketball coach, helping the team to a 6-5 record – the first winning season in program history.
She was on the Colonial Athletic Association Scholars list in all four of her varsity seasons at Towson University on her way to earning a bachelor of science in exercise science and Spanish in 2010. She was on the Dean’s List in 2006-07.
At Northwest High School just outside of Washington, DC, Landis was a three-sport four-year letterwinner in softball, basketball and field hockey. In softball, she broke the school record for home runs with 34 while earning Honorable Mention All-Metro as a freshman and sophomore and All-Metro laurels as a junior and senior. Landis was also All-Metro as a junior and senior in field hockey while garnering Honorable Mention All-Metro in basketball as a senior for the Jaguars.
After graduation from Rutgers-Newark, Landis plans to pursue a career in public health in a hospital setting. She has done volunteer work in hospitals with autistic children. But she also sees coaching in her future.
“There is nothing like coaching a kid and then they get that ‘ahh’ moment where it clicks,” states Landis.
