Shala Glenn '17 joins the women's basketball program as an assistant coach for the 2018-19 season.
Glenn played in the Brick City from 2013-17 as a guard, competing in 106 games while making 97 starts. She averaged 6.7 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, and 1.5 assists per game for her career. The Raiders won 45 contests in her four seasons, making it to two New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournaments, including a run to the NJAC Final in 2016-17 and an Eastern College Athletic Conference postseason berth in 2014-15.
Since graduating Rutgers-Newark with a degree in Criminal Justice in 2017, Glenn gained coaching experience by simultaneously serving as an intern for her alma mater and as an assistant junior varsity coach with Piscataway High School where she developed offensive and defensive plays as well as assisted in running practices.
“I am so excited to have a former student-athlete on our staff!” said Head Coach Ashley Cieplicki, “When I think of Shala, I immediately think of loyalty to me and the Rutgers-Newark program and I can’t wait for her contributions during practices, games, and recruiting.”
