Albert Piotrowski, who led Hackensack High School girls soccer to its best record in 16 years in 2007, was named an assistant coach for the Rutgers-Newark women’s soccer team in the spring of 2008.
The Clifton native coached Hackensack for six seasons while also staying active in club coaching and instruction. A biology teacher at the high school, Pitrowski also has served as assistant boys volleyball coach at Hackensack since 2005.
He served as training coach for the Hackensack Lady Royals club team, assisting the U12 team to a 2004 Metro Youth Soccer League title, then, training the same group to the U13 championship in 2005.
In 2006, he became vice president in charge of coaching education for the New Jersey Girls Soccer Coaches Association. In that role, he helped organize the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Goalkeeping Diploma course for the NJGSCA in 2007 and coordinated the NSCAA High School Coaches Diploma course in 2007.
He began his coaching career as a student assistant coach for women’s soccer at Montclair State for the 1996 and 1997 seasons. Piotrowski served as an assistant boys coach at Chatham High School in 1999, helping the team to section and state title appearances. He helped Dumont High School to back-to-back county and state playoff appearances in 200 and 2001 before beginning his tenure at Hackensack.
Piotrowski was a senior member of Clifton High School’s 1994 boys soccer team which swept its way to Group IV, league and county titles, being ranked as the No. 3 high school team in the nation by USA Today. He lettered four times and was a four-year honor roll student at the school.
He earned a bachelor of science in biology from Montclair State University in 1999, adding his master of arts and teaching certificate from New York University in 2001. In 2003, he gained his master’s degree in education in supervision of science education from Columbia University.
