Katie Pfister, a former defensive standout at Seton Hall University, joined the Rutgers-Newark women’s soccer team as an assistant coach in September of 2008.
The Toms River native was a four-year starter on the Pirates’ backline, while also earning Big East Academic All-Star honors all four years. A star on the field and off, Pfister earned recognition on the university’s dean’s list from 2003-2007, while also gaining acceptance into the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma.
Prior to Seton Hall, she was a two-time all-state performer at Toms River South. Pfister, also a three-time All-Shore, all-conference and all-county honoree, helped lead the Indians to back-to-back state championships in 2001 and 2002.
Pfister, who graduated cum laude with bachelor’s degree in biology from Seton Hall in 2007, is currently pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy at Seton Hall.
