Sage DoVale, who joined the Scarlet Raider staff after earning 2013 Northeast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year honors at FDU-Teaneck, has a rapidly-expanding resume as an instructor in the fine art of defense between the pipes.
Last fall she helped Rutgers-Newark goalkeepers reach new highs in performance that helped the team post 14 wins - a program record.
Â
She already has worked with the Red Bulls’ Regional Development School and Net Edge as a goalkeeping trainer while finishing her bachelor of science in marine biology with a minor in business administration from FDU in the spring of 2014. She plans to pursue an environmental law degree, but coaching is a passion.
Â
As a senior at NCAA Division I FDU-Teaneck, DoVale earned first team All-NEC laurels and was the Knight’s MVP after posting a school-record eight shutouts. She strung together five consecutive shutouts during the season and finished her career with a school-record tying total of 14 shutouts. She was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week four times as a senior.
Â
DoVale was FDU’s nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year and was selected as the school’s NJAIAW Woman of the Year as a senior.
Â
Born in Hawaii, DoVale was a two-time team MVP and two-time team captain in soccer at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia. She earned first team All-Gwinnet County honors as a senior after being named to the second unit as a junior.
