Leonard Hughley

Leonard Hughley is set to begin his role at Rutgers University-Newark in his first year in a full-time role. In that role, he is responsible for maintaining the University's fields and indoor courts as well as staffing all home events as well as the building staff.

A former standout football star and men's basketball center at New Jersey City University, he was a two-time All-NJAC selection as a powerful 6-foot-7, 300-pound offensive lineman. He was a Second-Team All-Conference pick in 1995 and Honorable Mention choice as a senior in 1996. He never played high school football.

Following the 1996 season, Hughley earned NFL tryouts with the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and Dallas Cowboys.

On the basketball court, Hughley won championships each year of his collegiate career. After graduating Weequahic High School, he attended Union County College in 1991-92, winning the Region XIX championship while helping the Owls reach the NJCAA Final Eight.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from NJCU in 2016.
